[optimus waves back with a light, more genuine smile. as weird as it is and as unfortunate as rodimus becoming prime evidently was (to his own knowledge of sunstreaker telling him their (?) optimus was killed and rodimus got the matrix), he's still genuinely happy to meet another prime.]

Next time I'll be sure it's because of a new drink in Maccadam's or a shanix on the ground. [ah, bad jokes, too. this optimus has them all. he clasps his hands together.] Recently an Autobot named Sunstreaker came through the space bridge. I do not know if he is the same Sunstreaker you know, but he mentioned a Rodimus Prime who had recently inherited the Matrix.

[this could be a risky move, taking the matrix out of his subspace and holding it by the handles before he's verified that rodimus is the person he's looking for, but-- prolonging it doesn't do anyone any favours. also, he doesn't really want to get too mired in the complications of this other universe, even if he does feel like he is responsible for any autobot.]

Sunstreaker was in possession of that Matrix, which I'm to understand belongs to you.

[Rodimus is, strangely enough, almost instantly put at ease by this Optimus. Sure he was an Optimus and they were all the same from what he'd gathered, but this one felt... kinder? Less war weary. Less likely to turn his back on everyone and go mad with power.

Was Rodimus still smarting from his own Optimus Prime's everything? Yes. Absolutely.

Nothing, however, could have prepared him for what Optimus was going to say.]

[Rodimus takes it gently, of course he does. The matrix always felt comfortable to him, even when he didn't want the weight that came with it. It doesn't stop him from screwing up his face in a grimace though.]

Yes, he's recently come through the bridge. Yellow Autobot in a hoverchair-- I can't much blame him for wanting to offload it on a Prime here as quickly as possible. I am just relieved that it's not being, ah... what's the phrase... hot potatoed around more than necessary.
